Breaking Bad Beer

Jon Snow may be a fictional character, but that didn’t stop us from having a beer to celebrate Game of Thrones last year. We may be a little GoT obsessed but good news: they aren’t the only TV show brewing beer. After releases from The Simpsons and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, more shows are creating ways for fans to honor their favorite shows.

Following the release of Iron Throne Ale, Ommegang and HBO have teamed up again to bring us Take The Black Stout, inspired by the men of the Night’s Watch. The 7% ABV stout is a seriously hoppy beer with chocolate and black licorice flavors. It will hit shelves this fall. No exact date is set yet, but you can be sure we’ll be first in line.

Though it’s headed for it’s final season, AMC’s Breaking Bad is getting not one, but two beers brewed in its honor. Marble Brewery, a popular location on the show, will release Heisenberg’s Dark and Walt’s White Lie on August 8. Though the brewery won’t be bottling the beer, it will be available on tap across New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado. But they’re only brewing 60 kegs of each, so book your trip now.

And though they’re not going the beer route, PBS’ Downton Abbey is joining the booze world. The show about the uptight British aristocracy will be putting its name on a line of French wine right in time for the Season 4 premiere. The Bordeaux wines will come from an estate that has been around since the early 1900s (same era the show is set in.) No word on the release date, but we’re guaranteed to have a glass in hand while watching the premiere.
